MEDITATION
Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state. It involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way. In meditation, the mind is clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused. When you meditate, you are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not focused on the external world or on the events taking place around you.
The goal of meditation is to go beyond the mind and experience our essential nature—which is described as peace, happiness, and bliss. But as anyone who has tried to meditate knows, the mind itself is the biggest obstacle standing between ourselves and this awareness. From childhood we have been asked to examine things in the external world. No one has taught us how to look within, to find within. Meditation helps us go within and experience the peace and joy within us. This now requires some practice.
At Holistic Life Solutions guided meditations are used so that the mind is following directions and in doing so does not get caught up in analysing and examining. Meditation is simply attending. You begin by attending to your breath, and then if a thought comes, attend to it, notice it, be open to it—and it will pass. Then come back to the breath. In a guided meditation visualization techniques are used to invoke specific feelings and emotions activating the energy related to them within us. When guided process is used there is less chatter in the mind resulting in improved focus.
Holistic Life Solutions holds Guided Meditations in small groups at its premises as well as online. Nisreen leads the meditation group in a comfortable and soothing atmosphere. Once the 30 to 40 minutes of meditation is over, the group discusses each ones experience in a conducive way to get the most benefit out of the experience and help each one progress in their effort.
